I'm thinking of reserving a camp spot the third week in August. Can someone tell me if there are vacancies and what the sites are like? Also, are there cabins available as well? If so, how are they set up?

Camping spots look nice although a bit small for bigger units. No cabins although they do have a bunkhouse. Smaller rooms with 2 sets of bunks, couple lockers, small fridge. Bring your own bedding. Common kitchen well equipped with coffee makers, electric stove, fridge and barby. We think price is reasonable although we only use it for the March Derby. Check prices for summer. Launch and docks are great.

Hi Dantheman
From August 15 through Labour day is almost 100% booked already - there maybe availabilty depending on when and for how long you wish to stay. Pricing etc can all be found on the website
I would not waste any time in getting a reservation in if that is the only time you wish to come. Of note fishing from mid June throug mid July is also very good as a matter of fact it was the best period last year for inshore fishing - check out the photos

How is the crabbing, shrimping and fishing in Mid-Late July? We are looking at trailering a 20 ft "dory" from Oregon. We drove the road in 2006 (without a boat) late May and all was good. Also, do you know the catch limits and regs for 2008 in Barclay Sound during that time?

Wharm:
Crabbing and Prawning are good most of the year. It is a little early yet to definitley say what closures if any will be in effect. DFO has yet to do the test fisheries. These will happen prior to June 1
